Authors, Value Your Work!

Imagine if civil engineers worked for free. They’d probably do a shabby job, leave work at noon, and say, ‘oh well, you never paid me,’ whenever their bridges collapse.

As authors, we owe it to ourselves and to future generations to put a price tag on our hard work. Free and 0.99 cent deals are fine now and then, to help us promote ourselves when we’re getting started, or to find a new audience for an older work,  but it’s important to this industry that we remind readers, and often, that we are the bridge builders in literature.

Where in the World?

First off, thank you readers for helping make The Ticket a Kindle bestseller in Canada and the USA in Relationship Humor! I had so much fun writing this third novel, and it’s wonderful to see you reacting to it with as much enthusiasm as I have for the characters and story. I’d love for more UK and Australian friends to discover this book! (So if you liked it, please share about it however you can).
Secondly, I could use your help answering a question for me. Did you prefer The Ticket being set in NY and around the world, or was there something intriguing to you about the Canadian-France setting of Strangely, Incredibly Good & Remarkably Great? I’ve been pleased and surprised to learn recently that the majority of my readers are American! (bless you).
It would really help me if my readers answer this question: Does setting matter to you when you read a book? Do you like to be able to relate to the place(s), or is it more interesting if it’s set in a place foreign to you?

GET YOUR TICKETS!

The Ticket, my third romantic comedy novel, is already charting as a “Movie Tie-In” on some Kindle Bestsellers charts in Canada and the USA! I’m absolutely thrilled, thank you for your support! It’s available for pre-order now, and will be sent to your Kindles on release day, Feb. 11, 2016.

Paperbacks are still a possibility…but I can’t afford all that involves right now (a big advance investment). So if you can and are willing to read on a Kindle, that’s your best bet for now.

That’s it for now. I have to get back to editing! (and a sick hubby) 😦
